Cai!!!

Hey what's the best brand to go with for a CAI?, also does anyone know where in Canada I can get this, or in the states, I don't mind from where as long as price is decent, and it can be shipped to me, and as long as the product is good.

I think I read a post earlier that said something about PLACE making the only true CAI, is this true?...if so where can I find it?

There are 2 CAI's you can get... Place Racing and Injen. Place racing is the only true CAI because it goes into the front left fender wall where the filter is to suck in cooler air thats not in the engine compartment. The Injen goes around in front and below the motor. I have the PR CAI. It costs about 200 bucks from either Cattman (cheaper $190) or Place Racing directly($230). Injen costs about 300. You can find clones of these on Ebay, buy i believe the filters suck and not sure about the build quality. I will say that the PR CAI is quite a well built and sturdy intake.
Place Racings number is 626-334-3345, they dont have a web site yet.

Actually there are more than 2 CAI brands.

There are a bunch of Ebay ones. I have an ebay CAI, but I don't have the CAI pipe installed, I decided to make it a HAI. IMO, they all do the samething, one gives better low-end than the other and vice versa. It really comes down to if you want to pay for the name or not.

At the time I bought my CAI for $60. I believe they are $40 now? My ebay HAI gave great power, and gives that same growl like all the name brand ones do. Whatever floats your boat, search ebay if your on a budget.

Thats correct there are many types of CAI's It all depends on what your looking for.. i went with PR cause its a well known and trusted intake, but if 200 is a bit much, go for the ebay ones.

Thanks for the repsonses guys, I think I may go with the Place Racing, i don't mind paying the extra bucks as long as I am getting something that is a quality product.
Hey another quick question...have any of you guys ever gotten a rear abs code on your car?...my mechanic told me today that that was what my CEL codes meant....

Most of the Ebay CAI's come in Chrome so if thats not a problem for you get that. I wanted the different color powdercoat and the name, silly as it is. Just like getting a STILLEN strut bar over an ebay strut bar. Its all up to the buyer and his/her tastes and what they want their car to look like.

i have a place racing intake and im very satified with it but the filter that i recieved with it was the monster flow and i recently switched k & n and the k & n is the better filter. It has more air flow and growls a bit louder and could feel the low end power. Next up warpspeed y.

When i ordererd my Place Racing intakes i told him that i would like the K&N filters and that i would order 2 CAI's. Well he hesitated for a second then told me that they have only a couple of K&N's in stock and he would swap the filters for me for a few bucks extra. It was a good deal for me and id rather have the K&N over the foam anyday.

GEEZ, im just explaining why I chose to get the PR CAI, its up to him as to what intake he gets, cheap or not. Many people have a variety of different intakes from Berk, home-made, frankencar, stillen, Injen, ebay.... etc. They got those intakes cause they wanted them, either for the name or to save themselves the time of trying to make one. Some peeps have the cash to get the big name products, others DONT. He asked what the better brand CAI's are... so Lets just try to give him answers hes looking and let him make his own choice and not be so negative
