95 maxima smokes
My 1995 Maxima lets out a very large cloud of smoke when I accelerate from a stop. It also does this sometimes when I first start up, but normally after is warmed up. The smoke is light gray in color and the oil level does not go down much. The car has 120,000 miles and is in good shape. I have used synthetic oil since 10,000 miles and it has been tuned up. The dealer can not find a problem with the codes, is this possibly a ring or valve problem ?
well, it could be a couple things. usually blue smoke is associated with rings or valve problems. white smoke almost sounds like coolant being burned off. have you had your head gasket checked or changed recently? what color is the oil on the dipstick? if it looks like thick chocolate milk, then you have a coolant problem (most likely the head gasket)
