Hey, I know that this topic was probably already discussed, but I just want to get a few certain answers.

1 - If I get a Y Pipe without any other mods except the hi flow intake, will the noise be increased A LOT or just a pinch? and will it add horse power?

2 - If i do get the Y pipe, with a new exhaust, what is better, a Stillen or some other exhaust or a 2000 Maxima exhaust. I don't like my car to be too loud, I hate to sound like those civics on the street.

3 - Is there anything special about the new 2000 Maxima exhausts, I heard somethings about them, but I am not sure what they mean.

Thanks in advance for all the info, and sorry of this has been discussed before.

You won't notice any increased noise with a stock exhaust system and a y-pipe....the intake is the loudest. I currently have an intake, y-pipe and stock exhaust and the exhaust is silent. If you do get the y-pipe....and want it to be quiet...get a 2K muffler...it's a variable-backpressure unit that has a valve that opens up for higher flow and higher RPMs....nissan has a cool quicktime movie of how it works at www.nissandriven.com

good luck

love the aluminized warpspeed y-pipe! i believe it won't add much noise with a stock exhaust over your intake. the 2k muffler doesn't add horsepower, gimmick

combination?

What if I go a Y Pipe with a 2K mufler? better than a Ypipe with a stock mufler?

Or should I go for a Y Pipe with an aftermarket mufler?
Which is better for performance, but keeps it quite?

Any suggestions on the make of Y pipe and an aftermarket mufler if that is the best combo?

Does a Y pipe add HP by itself

Re: combination?

warpspeed y, high-flow cat and stock muffler (it's not very restrictive)

There are 3 brands of y-pipes...Stillen, Cattman, and Warpspeed. Cattman is supposed to be the best in terms of quality (SS), fitment, and noise. The choice is yours.

Brands of mufflers...There is Stillen, Greddy, Apexi, etc etc.

The Y-pipe gives around 15 HP.

From there you can go with an intake, b-pipe, hi-flow cat, muffler etc.

another twist to the y-pipe question

concering noise- what if you have the stock intake with a K&N filter and a Greddy Catback exhaust system. The Catback already has a nice growl to it. Will the y-pipe make this noise unbearable with the exhaust system, not having the high flow intake?

Unbearable? That's subjective, but it will make it significantly louder.

y-pipe

I ordered my y-pipe and it should be here tomorrow. I already have a JWT intake and am in the proccess of looking for nitrous system. I want to get a b-pipe but keep the stock muffler. I don't want courtesy one because of the stupid O2 extension piece, which SS pipe should a get to compliment it??????

Get a Stillen muffler to go with it all, it is loud, but it sounds SOOOO GOOD! You only really hear it between 2000 and 3000. It doesn't sound loud and janky like a Civic w/ and exaust, it sounds deep and powerful.
