REV Limiter

I have a 98 GXE with a Nissan 5-speed installed in place of the original automatic trans. The car was purchased like this. The rev limits me to 6500 rpms. How can I increase this.?

You need to get an upgraded ECU.

JWT ECU or standalone are currently the only ways. Technosquare is soon coming out with an increase rev limit ecu as well.

I assume you have the stock intake manifold? If so, increasing the rev limiter and then revving it out to there will make you slower. The power of a 4th gen with a stock intake manifold really drops off after 5500rpms. For optimal results with the stock intake manifold, you want to shift at about 6500rpm in 1st, 6200 in 2nd, and 6000 in 3rd if you are racing.

I didn't think anyone made an upgraded ECU for the 98-99?

I say this on every thread that this question comes up in, you can use a 95-96 ecu in a 98 maxima. only 99s cannot use them. mardigrasmax has one in his 98.
