questoin about alternator....once again
i was hearing whining noise from the alternator, wanst sure if it was the belt or the alternator, mods said it was the alternator, i took a long shot and sprayed the belts with belt dressing, the noise is at a minimal now, it went from being completley obvious while at idle, to v ery little at idle and you could hear it whine will accelerating upto 35 mph, now once you press the pedal, its gone, could it be the belt, according to a friend of mine he said it looked worn, i dont konw how much play is in it

Belts make a horrid screeching sound, from my experience when my alty whined, it died a week later. Take it to Auto Zone and let them hook it up to their machine, they'll tell you exactly what the alty is putting out and what it should be putting out Better safe than sorry imo Becuz if its the alty, it will just die with no other signs, then youre stranded. The whining I think is a sign that shes requesting a replacement.
