stolen max

saturday night, i went to miami to visit my girl's family. i never rode around down there, so i decide to go to see how they mall looks and get some shoes. anyways, i'm in the mall no more than 20 minutes, and when i come back, my car is gone and the passenger window is laying on the ground. i was parked in the 3rd spot from the front door, yet nobody saw nothing. anyways, the mall security weren't any help...and neither was the police at the mall. they told me i had to go to the station to do a report....how was i supposed to get there? anyways, they found my car yesterday, and when i went to get it, i was heartbroken. they had my baby sitting on 2 donuts, and 2 small wheels each with 3 lugs on them. the took my rims, system, spare tire, jack, the whole dash from the hazard light switch to the ashtray is gone. they even got petty and took pics of my old max...and my wheel shine spray. i guess they gonna use that to shine the tires still. and the messed up all of my wheel studs....i had to ride all the way back home on the donuts...cuz the studs would break if i tried to take them off. anyways, i'm in the process of putting her back together now. i got 2 tires back on...and probably finish that and put the ignition on tomorrow.

God, Remind me to never go down there. I cant believe the cops didnt give you a ride down the station.

Did you have a Car Alarm or full coverage on your ride?

That sux man, hope your insurance covers your damages, although the memory will always be there. Didnt you have an alarm or was this the one time you decided not to arm it?

sad to say, but last i remember is insurance is not going to pay up. If you car gets stolen and you get it back, then back you get it in whatever shape it is...but its back. Only if your car is missing for good insurance steps up. So good luck getting anything from insurance.

I watched grand theft auto cops on discovery once and they said that Miami is the grand theft auto capital of the US.

I feel for ya, remember it's a car not a person you can fix it and you can look at it as a reason to make it better than it was. Insurance should cover it as long as you have comprehensive on it.

Here's some stolen car rankings:

The top 10 metro areas with highest auto theft rates as reported by the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) study released in June 2003:

1. Phoenix, AZ
2. Fresno, CA
3. Modesto, CA
4. Stockton-Lodi, CA
5. Las Vegas, NV
6. Miami, FL
7. Sacramento, CA
8. Oakland, CA
9. Seattle, WA
10. Tacoma, WA

There are a lot of car crime facts on the NICB website http://www.nicb.org

If you look at the top 25 cars by state, other than California where the Maxima is ranked 25th most stolen, Maxima's only show up in eastern/east coast states. New York and New Jersey have them ranked high up the list. Of course any modified car will bring on a lot more attention and additional reasons to steal.

This site is also fun for seeing crime statistics of other cities campared to yours:

http://www.homefair.com/homefair/cal...E.src=MOVEC001

If you look at Mesa, AZ which I believe is No. 1 in the country for most stolen cars, this site shows 1150 cars stolen per every 100,000 people.

It would be wise to invest in an aftermarket alarm system disables ignition when triggered.. Better yet get an alarm with a pager style remote.

For real though, that sucks azz. Like everyone said, hope you had full coverage. I have learned my lesson the hard way and from now on I say: if your ride is worth over $5,000 - get full. It is not worth the risk.

Full coverage would help in identical situation...I still keep my fool coverage ,even I got almost 150k. Would be about $150 less without it ( for me) so is well worth it.
Insurance should cover the car , maybe they ll declare a total loss ,depends how much is missing.
Some members say to get an alarm system with a pager...What are you going to do , if you receive a page from the system other than try to call the cops ? The cops would take their time to come to the crime scene...and I know that I don t wanna die for a car, especially if I have a full coverage insurance.

i didn't get anything from insurance, everything has to be fixed out of pocket. i know it sounds strange being that i had so much on my car, but i didn't have an alarm. i was lookin into getting one, but never did. i installed a kill switch though. but i forgot to arm is before i got out the car. but it's cool though. i got everything i need to get her back right. except does anyone know where i can get the dash area from? i didn't wanna go to the dealer, cuz they want toooooooo much. and does anyone know how much a window would cost?

you are looking at about $50 for the glass and about a $100 for the dash panel
both used of course.

word of advice.
Do your best with packaging, cause shippers like UPS are notorious for braking those. Maybe get insurance.

another reason max's are farther down the list is cause they are a lot harder to steal/break into then camry's, accords, civics, etc....

anyone that I know that had their max broken into was from a broken window or something like that.

Everyone I know with a camry has had it broken into/stolen (without breaking anything to get in) and it is ranked #1 all time most stolen vehicle

And then go to jail over a car that you won't be driving for most of your life. By the time you get out you'll be wanting a Buick which you would drive around at 20 mph and the bumpers will be all dinged and scratched up.

Randal sorry to hear about your Max, that had to be a terrible feeling coming out and your Max is gone, Hope things work out good for you.

On a good note like s0ber said you can fix her better than before.

It sucks that insurance wont help? Did you have stick or Auto?

Now I dont want to go down to FL, to visit my Sister, I have the Stock Security systme which I'm guessing wouldnt be hard to get past.
