A/C throws air, but its not cold

Ok, well today my girlfriend noticed that the car wasnt blowing cold air. I didnt notice it until she brought it to my attention. I thought I was screwed. I took it to a A/C place, and they check it. I thought I need anitfreeze or freon. whatever its called. Anyhow it turns out its the Relay in the Engine bay. THe one by the water pump. I went to autozone, they had it. But its not the one I need. Who can have the relay? Its blue, and the number says 25230-79981 12RGG. Do i have to go to a dealership to get one? Or can I find one at a junkyard? Anyone got one lying around? THanks Raul

I had the same thing. In the dash there is a sensor thingy. Where your climate controls are, is there hole with bars in it? In my auto control, if you take it apart there is a small resistor or an FET, one of them, that detects TEMPS. It's where the plastic tube is. Mine was all covered in dust and dirt so I cleaned it and now I have cold air again.

Mine is doing the same thing as well but I think I am out of freon because of a leak in the a/c system.

Odds are you need a refill. It coud be one of the above but I would get a inspection because thats the most likely of suspects.

How do I recharge it??? ITs a big bulky blue fuse looking thing, right now there is a thick gauge wire placed in the socket, which allows I guess the connection for the A/C to blow cold air. It might not be the A/C fuse, but maybe its one of those big fuses in the engine bay, and its the very last one.Anyhow its my solution for now. I'm not even touching the ac, until I get the actual Relay, any suggestions to where I can find one? Good luck everyone, I'll update this if I fix the problem.

a/c operation

Not sure what fuse you are talking about...However, if the system doesn t have enough r-134 , the compressor wouldn t kick in, or would kick in but for short periods (cycles). That is the best sign that shows that the system needs to be charged. You can do it at the dealership , or a/c companies , but the whole procedure is expensive due to the time needed to find where the problem is. They usually would locate the leak and fix the problem, and charge the system afterwards. You may try to recharge the system yourself, but that may be just a temporary solution. I ve done it in the past , (just recharge ) and I kinda know how should be done...Let me know if you need details .

Well over here its $30 to charge it up, and look for the leak.. If they find something they will deduct the $30 from the total price, if you fix it with them.

Technically there is nothing wrong with the A/C because the A/C doesn't "THROW" air....

just get it recharged or ride with it off and the vents open and with the windows down....G-H-E-T-T-O LoL

I recharged mine myself, its easy ...The kit you can buy at Auto Zone, I got the gauge that tells you if its overcharged and everything. The kit includes the stop leak stuff, and it goes in with the refrigerant, so its worth it to do yourself. ALTHOUGH my car always blew cold, I just wanted to charge it back up becuz the lady who had it before me ALWAYS ran the climate control on auto even in the winter instead of econo, so the compressor ran ALL the d*** time She also told me she never turned on the fogs either she didnt know they were there Which is why I'm still driving on bulbs from the factory!

I'm having this same problem with my 96 max. My a/c light doesn't come on and the front defrost doesn't do its job anymore. Could all these problems just be an a/c problem.

YUP, it all works wit the compressor, and if the compressor doesnt detect any freon, its not gonna come on.

Check the fuses next to the door on the drivers side, there is a little guide of which fuses are which inside of the lid(you'll see it when you pop it off). That is the one that "controls" the A/C button. If you pull it out, the A/C button does not work, does not light up. But if it blew out there must be some sort of problem. Try replacing it, if it blows again take it in to get checked out. I actually had a bad compressor. I recharged my A/C, more like overcharged it, and had to replace a few other components due my mess up. I used one of those kits with the gauge. I filled it up and the pressure was fine. The next day after I got off work I went to get the kids from school. When I parked my car was smoking. The freon was coming out of my condensor now and hitting some hot part in the engine bay. I wished I would have just taken in to a shop in the first place.
