Oil Light that Flickers

Well for the past few months, when my oil light has flickered on and off for a few seconds during hard braking and cornering. I have checked my dipstick time after time when it has happened but with the way our dipsticks are, its very hard to get a correct reading of my oil level. So I put a quarter of a quart of oil each time and it would seem to fix the problem a period of time like a week or two. I figured that I am going through oil pretty rapidly but the weird thing is I dunno where its all going, I don't have leaks and I dunno see any blue smoke out of the exhaust or anywhere else. I am stump and its worrying me that this can eventually turn into a major problem down the road. Do you guys have any suggestions on why this could be happening or where to look to solve this problem? thanx

I've had an oil leak in the past that's been fixed but i've never got the oil light flickering. I'm thinking that it's an oil leak because Maximas tend to have that. Good Luck

Maybe the oil pressure sending unit is starting to go bad?

on the pressure sending unit. How often are you adding quarts? I hope you didn't overfill it.

There's only a handfull of places oil can go.

1) Burned in the engine, then out the tailpipe
2) The ground
3) Cooling system
4) All over your engine bay

Accurate way to check oil: Park on a level spot for a few hours (overnight, if possible). Check it before you start the car.
