i recently brought my car into service because of a check engine light... it happens that my 02 sensor and my knock sensor codes are coming up... how much do these parts cost?? and what do they actualy do for the car.. is this a must to fix... im kinda low on cash.. someone plz tell me the benifits i would get by fixing it... and the bad things that will happen if i dont... btw .. i woulda searched the forum .. but i dont have access

 

with both items, you're looking at least $200, provided you do it yourself. There are how-to's everyone on how to replace knock sensors and o2 sensors, just look in the stickies.

I had to replace an o2 sensor once, so stupid me brought the car to a local auto-mechanic. He got the car on a lift and took him a whole 2 minutes (I'm not kidding) to replace the rear o2 sensor. Paid him $10 and felt ripped off after seeing how easy it is.

Knock sensor replacement is a little bit more complicated, but I believe that just about anyone can do it.

Is it normal when I floor it, the first second's acceleration is kinda slow but then, after it seems to have catch or something, it flies. Can it be the knock sensor? I red the first link and it says it can retard the timing or something like that. Or maybe the car is just like that?

 

well first verify by getting a code second, you need to know which o2 sensor it is, because you can buy a universal for around 50-70,
the price will be $90 for the knock sensor shipped off ebay, and the o2 sensors 50-70 if its the upstream, the downstream one on the cat will run about 80$, so your looking at anywehre from 140-170$, you need to read the stickies and the faqs to find out the information you need to learn to read codes and interpret them
