jack stands

Alright, kind of a question here, but I'm asking it to avoid being crushed underneath my car.

Just bought a hydraulic floor jack and jack stands. The owner's manual says to jack up the car on the thin metal rail just beneath the door. Looking under the car it seems like the rectangular line about 1 foot towards the center of the car (I'm assuming this is the frame) is the logical location to place the jacks. Am I on the right track here?

A related question...
how far do I have to jack the car up to have enough room to drain the coolant?

I put the jack and jackstand just inside the thin metal rail, at the points shown in the manual.

Garage jack points = where you jack up the car
4 middle circles = place to put jack stands
