i had the code for evap control vent stuck open....so i bought the check valve from a nissan dealer and attempted to fix it. My advice is to replace the check valve and the charcoal canister at the same time.....its a simple procedure too and will cost you around 85 bucks for both parts. The canister and check valve are located directly behind the rear driver wheelwell. Takes 30 mins or less to do. All you do is remove a couple of screws and a couple of hoses. Hopefully it helps

Good explanation. I'm pulling the same codes too (135K miles) and am going to attempt doing this. I posted a thread like this earlier and someone had suggested taking the canister and valve out and cleaning it with WD-40 and that should fix the problem unless there is some damage to the whole thing.

I'm going to try it in a few days (it's finally warm outside!!). Do i have to take off the tire to access it?

no dont take the tire off.... if u can..jack the back end up a little to make it easier to get to. Also, if your car is sluggish...you might want to replace the fuel filter (every 30k recommended). I did that and cleaned the throttle body and my car runs better than ever

I personally, wouldn't bother with the WD-40 - it got me another couple weeks and I ended up replacing everything anyway.

No need to remove the tire - jacking up the car might help a little. I did it without jacking up the car... maybe twenty minutes tops. The stiff hoses are the biggest pain the in the butt about the whole thing.

Do you know the part # for the purge control valve? Is it 1495631u10?
