Advice on 5-speed max's

I'm about to buy a used car. I like the 4th generation body style, but finding a 5-speed maxima in '97-'99 year model is very difficult to find. Also, I feel like it would be hard to sell the car if I ever needed to. Would you guys advise me to stray away from buying this car, or wait a few years and get a newer 5th gen SE with the manual gearbox. I love the 4th gens, but I may have to "settle" for automatic. I've driven both, and the 5-speed is WAY superior to the autos, wouldn't you all agree?? Thanks for any help, and I'll talk to you guys later.

It might be hard to find, but well worth it. And in the end when you get tired, someone on the org. will take it off your hands trust me.

Definitely go with a 5spd. I waited and looked for 5 months to get mine, and I have not regretted it at all.

Let us know what happens.

go with the 5spd man.

I had trouble finding one myself but I lucked out and just got a deep evergreen 1997 Max SE with all available options, in pristine condition with only 60k on the clock. Dude who had it before me kept ALL the service records, including the original invoice.

Im so happy that I waited to get a 5spd. You won't regret it either !

Go with 5sp....I also lucked out I asked my friend that owned a car dealer to keep an eye out and in 5 days there was one he got his hands on in and auction. He called me up and was like you have 5 mins to decide if you want this car. Black SE...I guess there are only a handfull out there but keep your eyes open. Oh and driving a 5sp max is sooooooo much better. You can run gears out like mad, and it feels alot faster than and auto. My room mate has an auto and it just isn't as fun. Oh and they sell easy why do you think you can never find one? I went to a nissan dealer before i had found my car to ask if they have any 5spds and the guy was like as soon as they hit the lot they are gone. Also trust me if u get your hands on a 5spd max you won't wanna sell it.

bought mine off of ebay, travelled 3 hours just to get a 5speed, would have travelled twice that without second thoughts, never compromise, Automatic = Crapomatic, not even worth buying the darn car, I'd rather ride a bike than have an automatic car.

I looked for a while and kept almost going really far (like 3hrs), then it would be sold. Then I finally found one like 45 min away. I'm SOOOOOOOO glad I ended up getting a 5spd. So much fun .
