i wonder if he means like totally different looking like wood-trim for example (not that anyone on this board would ever consider that hopefully). i can't think of anything different that would look remotely close to as good as the CF ones do :-/

Their were some pillars made in the past such as the ones Supa Lao, and myself purchased in a group deal from a member named CAPVENT that had been made from the same material you are describing, its the same type as the dash kits. They were cut nicely and looked great, but after 2-3 weeks they turned yellowish gold color and got worse after that.
Many complained, and he stated that they were for indoor show use only and could not take the heat of the sun. He shorlty disappeared from the org.
The pillars ionic sells are made from the same material as the cf hoods and lips. Its a sturdy cutout and has a nice finish, the pieces are curved to match the molding of the pillars. However the pieces have a ruffer cut to them but not too bad.

The ones I bought are still sticking and look OK.
HOWEVER, (and I forget who I bought mine from) the cut was poor and I had to alter them slightly.
also, these attached with double sided tape...
by from a reputable source -- it'll work out better in the long run...
