Oil Pressure Sender?

Does anyone know where is the location of the Oil Pressure sender unit? Or is there any Oil pressure sender in the Maxima? If not where do I install the after market one that comes with the Auto Meter oil pressure gauge? Thanks.

Teflon tape can plug the sending units. If you can, use the paste instead.

Can you tell me where I can buy the Brass fittings and the tee? If you can explain it better, I am new to this stuff. Thanks.

Most hardware stores carry brass fittings. The only problem is, the sending unit and the tap are both metric. Most of the fittings that you'll find locally are SAE. You'll have to find fittings to convert the two unless you can find a metric tee and nipples that match. Hopefully someone who has done this will post where they were able to find them locally. You can buy them off the internet if you aren't in a hurry to get them...

Check out this article on NPM. It explains what you guys have metioned about the thread sizes very well. Nissan uses neither metric or standard threads for the oil pressure units. They use 1/8 BSP(whatever that means). This article is specific to the SE-r's but it appears that all Nissans have this thread type.

Very good information. I just assumed it was metric since the fit wasn't exactly snug.

Thanks...

A 22mm deep socket? Looks like you could buy five sockets for the price of that oil distribution manifold...

i don't understand... you are replacing the oil pressure sender, right? It's like 5 bucks at autozone. I did it about 36k miles ago and no leaks or issues. It was a quick replacement.

You don't need a socket to replace the sender unit. A cresent wrench will do the job perfectly and it doesn't cost anything. I used this as a last resort because I couldn't find a 22mm in deep socket; even at Sears. Good choice on going with that unit. I haven't yet heard of anyone on the .org using that. Let us know how it works. It looks like it is very well machined and if NPM gives it a thumbs up it means its pretty d@mn good.
