Later guys! Moving on......

Gentleman, thanks for help over the years. This forum has been an invaluable source of information over the years. I'm almost sad that in a matter of hours I'll be driving my max for the last time. I bought her new in 1997. She's a white/tan SE and I've put just a little over 300,000 miles on her.

My new car came in earlier this week and I take delivery later this morning. I'm kind of shocked how much I'll miss the Max. I'm gonna take the long way to the dealership before I trade her in. The dealership gave me a $1000 dollars for her, which I felt was fair considering the mileage.

So gents, thanks for the good times and if you see a guy in an LS430 giving you a thumbs up, that's me.

Take care.

Wow, 300k miles. How did the car hold up over the years? Any major repairs or problems to speak of?

man wat an upgrade. Lucky you. Clublexus is a good forum. I've been on there a couple of times to find things out for my mom's es. Lexus's are great cars also, great choice man.

Sorry that the org wasn't much help to you over the past years. But since your car reached 300k, seems like u didn't need the help.

430's are for old people.
They are luxurious though.
Good luck with that.
You should have gone for the IS300.

Hmmm...I think I'll take the 14.5@97mph LS430 over the 15.3@91mph IS300 any day. The pimp factor of the LS430 on a good set of 18s owns the IS300. Plus put on a set of Flowmaster mufflers and the LS430 sounds like a hightech Impala SS. About the only thing the IS300 has going for it is handling and pretty good looks. I guess you could always turbo the IS300, but prepare to be working on it a lot. I'm always reading about the problems (tranny failures, driveability) with turbo'd IS300s.

The IS300 is the only car prettier than a 4G Maxima, IMO, so I'd take that.

The LS is a MFin' boat. I like a car that is nimble.

You like nimble cars so you decided to get a Maxima? Hmm, doesn't really add up.

I know that the large V8 in the 430's will do that 1/4 mile, but was I was saying is how often will you be doing that in it? Not very often.
The IS is much better looking than the boring LS. There is not really any distinguishing features about the looks of the LS430. It has a lot of cool gadgets, but other than that....just another boring Toyota.
I would definitely drive one...............if someone gave it to me.

good luck with the LS430. I would've gone with the gs400, since LS is for the "old heads." Have fun tho! Did you have to do any major tuneups during your fabulous 300,000 miles? did u purchase that new?

Couple a quick answers.

an old fart's car? Well, that's cause I'm an old fart.

For those that said IS/GS. This car is for highway trips only(you did notice by the mileage on the max I do a lot of highway??).

For those who said the LS is slow/doesn't handle. It's not supposed to, I have a 993 TT for a sports car. The maxima was never a sports car to me, just a highway car.

Yes, I did by the max new. Traded her this morning. I'm sure she'll wind up at an auto-auction now. I ran mobile-1 since the first day, and I did every recommended service at the Nissan dealer. Also, never missed an oil change. Had trouble with a few things over the years, nothing too major. I drove this car like I stole it every minute of it's life. The auto trans lasted till 200,000 miles, then I replaced it. Like I said, I beat on this car hard and it still ran great. I've got no complaints about Nissan products. I just think the new max is overpriced for what you get and I think the Q45 is ugly(IMO).

Something sporting wasn't even a consideration as I allready have a vehicle to fill that need.

Thanks for the recommendation on www.clublexus.com, I'll check it out. If any of you are Porsche enthusiasts I recommend you check out www.rennlist.com

Later Gentleman

Take care.

The reason why you hear about all these problems is because the tiptronic/shiftonic/e-shift/ whatever tranny sucks. If you get an older 5-speed, or by some chance do a 6-speed conversion on it, it's okay. The other thing is that people figure that since it has the 2jz-ge, they can throw 20 PSI into it. Sure, the block could handle it, but the axles can't.

And, IMO, the pimp factor of the IS300 is 200 times that of a LS430. Tint, chrome rims, a little drop and a Remus muffler to give it that vette growl...............Then you twin turbo it to back everything up.

I will give the LS the advantage on the highway. I cannot blame you there.

With the cars that you have, overpriced is not in your vocabulary.

sometimes the q45 looks like a hyundai. they need to make the Infiniti logo bigger. i LOVE the Q45's headlights. gattling gun formation of xenons. those are some bright lights!

Not for nothing but the LS430's Quality and finish is wayyyy better than the new Maxima, which is not bad for just some silly Toyota

Great buy, its an old geezer car I guess, but its beautiful, fast, and ultra luxurious. I'd rather sit back in one of those down the highway and just cruise than an IS 300. On the other hand the IS 300 has better looks but thats basically all it has over the LS.

good choice on the LS430. my mom has a 2003, and i must admit i didnt want her to get it at first. but when she did, i couldnt belive how nice it is. it has endless power and it reeks LUXURY. your going from one great car to another. awesome choice! its one of those cars you just have to drive to appreciate.

did you happen to get the rear mini fridge option? i want a fridge in my max damit!

if i were you i would have gotten the infinti m45. now that is sporty and luxury and better looking and faster than the ls430 and the q45.

the is300, i really don't like. i hate the yramid dash where the gauges are and i rather get a g35 sedan or a 330i with performance package than a is300.

my 2 cents.
