I have a 97 Maxima GLE, just hit 100,000 miles and has never had one problem except for the recalled alternator

Anyways.. the last three months or so.. I have to step on the gas when starting the car to get it to turn over.. Yesterday, when I turned the key there was nothing at all.. Battery is good, but the car didn't make any noise or recognition of the ignition turning at all..
It did that all day yesterday.. seemed comletely dead all yesterday, but this morning I got in and with the help of the gas it started up again..

Anyone can help me with this.. The check engine light has been on for about 3 months too.. I don't know jack about cars and I've never had any work done on it, accept the alternator they replaced for free about 1 yr ago... could use suggestions.. Thanks,

My guess is that if you read the sticky HELP MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON!!!, follow the instructions, and narrow down why the light went on, it would narrow the possibilities of what is wrong greatly.

10 to 1 odds its the camshaft position sensor.
