is my brand new clutch dead?

i had my clutch replaced about 3K miles ago and have been really happy with it every since....mind you, all these parts are NOT KEY VALUE...they are the real nissan oem! anyway, i was cruisin on san vincente as some of you know at about 40mph and a tree branch kicked up and cracked my bell housing.... this was no ordinary tree branch mind you...anyway, I got the tranny replaced....but differential fluid flowed out on the engine side of the tranny...and hence, it got on my 3K mile old clutch.....which completely sux....my mechanic cleaned the clutch and friction disc with carb cleaner and then wiped it down and put it back in...now it's slipping badly when I shift at anything above 4K rpm....!!! my mechanic told me I just have to wear the diff oil and carb cleaner off and it will take a few miles....so far I have put on 15 miles or so....i know this might be premature, but is the friction disc soaked in this stuff so badly that it will never grip again??? the diff oil was only on my friction disc for about 24hours or so before my mechanic cleaned it off....?

what do you think I should do? another mechanic I consulted says I should have gotten the friction disc only replaced when the whole tranny was out, but now I have to pay all that labor again, just to stick a new friction disc on....

what do you guys think I should do?

It's a bad idea to use a disk that's been soaked in oil of any kind. You should have had it replaced when the tranny was off.

The oil allows the disk to slip under heavy load, which can generate lots of heat; that leads to all sorts of problems.
