I am in need of a new clutch, I was planning on getting the OEM
from nissan (not key value), but then I saw this on Ebay. Does
anyone have any experience with this kit? and is it OEM,
equivilant to OEM, or is it like the key value kit? I know
that it's not the stage 1 performance clutch. All I need is
equivilant to the OEM, I don't want to end up with something
like the key value kit.

I bought the exedy clutch kit off ebay... only from iclutches. Although I'm in the break-in phase, I can say it feels and behaves like the stock clutch. It'll be another 250 or so miles before I flog the thing though.

Yeah. Just wanted something at least as good as stock. The Exedy replacement is supposedly 10% better clamping force. To me, it just feels at least as good as stock, including the pedal feel. No noises going into gear and no apparent chatter. You really can't tell the upper limit of performance until you shift aggressively though so I can't really give the full thumbs up just yet. I did adjust the pedal clutch takeup to be closer to the floor though but I don't think that had anything to do with the clutch.

iclutches was a great vendor. Sent tracking info and the package went out the next day. Seller even sent a thank you after I left feedback. Seemed pretty conscientious.

 

mish..how do u adjust the clutch to catch closer to the floor..that little screw above the pedal? mine catches at about 1 or 1.5 inches from the upper limit.i dont like it..

im still breaking in the exedy stock replacement. i agree with everything mish says.. catches like the stock, feels like the stock, no noise, grinds. havnt smelled burnt clutch yet when i get out of the car. so far so good. ill mash mine in 400miles to see how well it holds the topend.

That is no good. If clutch take up starts too high from the floor, full engagement may not occur with the pedal released. There is a rod that you need to screw into the pedal some more. Be aware that small changes make a big difference. You kind of have to do trial and error to see how much you want it to adjust it. Mine feels like as soon as I lift my foot off the floor just a bit it starts to grab. Don't get carried away or the clutch may not be fully disengaged with the pedal all the way to the floor--make sure you have some dead space. All you have to so is loosen a retaining nut behind the pedal lever, and then rotate the clutch rod into the pedal lever with a pair of pliers--the rod has a serrated segment that you can grab.

Yeah, the clutch rod is attached to the pedal lever by it's threaded end. The rod enters the nut then enters the pedal lever. You just loosen the nut and turn the rod in or out. It's not easy because of the positioning. You are only able to turn the rod 15-20 degrees at a time. Also, because the rod enters the lever on the opposite side to how you are facing the hardware, just make sure you turn it the direction because it's easy to get confused. A good way to know how much progress you've made is to loosen the nut a fixed amount and when it contacts the lever, you know how much you've moved it in. If you want to know where you've started from (in case you want to go back) put a mark on the rod where it enters the clutch pedal lever.

 

i took a look at the assembly..im pretty sure i see the clutch rod.. its threaded and kinda serrated..and goes intothe wirewall.. its not where the pedal lever is with the black button is.

i tried taking off the but, its a 12mm i thin..but cant get it off..i move the wholething the nut is connected to..is it easy to turn the clutch rod.. i can get any kinda leverage in there..no space.

 

You have to get a pair of pliers to turn it. It will only turn once the nut is loosened. A needle nosed pliers did not work for me. Try a fatter one with good teeth. Like I said, there is only room enough to turn it a little at a time. Kind of frustating because of the position.

 

yeah.i finally got it to turn..omg.its very very frustrating.. the catch point is a little less than halfway now..(closer to the floor). i think that is a good catch spot..lots of distance both ways for clutch to fully engage and disengage..thanks mish.
