Should they fix it? Bearings
I just bought a 97 SE, with 90,000 miles. It has a 30 day warrenty from the dealership. The car has a stillen exhaust on it. When im driving i hear a sound that gets mixed in with the tone of the exhaust. Its easyer to hear when i dont have my foot on the gas. The best way to describe it is the sound is what you hear when u put ur ear up to the opening of a seashell. Its a constant sound that i have heard since i bought the car. The sales guy said it was the exhaust but i know its not. I took the car back and had the service guys listen to it. They said its sounds like its the bearings in the transmission. they said there are 3 sets of 2 bearings or somthing like that and that one of them are probably making the noise. They said its probably just the sound the car makes for having 90,000 miles on it. They said if the sound gets louder then im probably gona wana get it fixed but not now. Of course not now while it would probably be coverd. So now im thinking after reading the faq's thread that i have the problem of the bearings beings 4 sizes to big and thats causeing the noise. Is this problem with the bearings something thats considered a defect and should they have to fix it for me. Also does this bearing problem always cause tranny problems. Any help with this would be great. thanks
