more hard starting issues- testing sensors?

So the topic of the week seems to be our hard starting woes. with all the sensors that could be bad, should i just but a multimeter to check all the possible culprits. are they supposed to have a good range and if its above/below that, replace it?
how many of these sensors will not light the CEL besides the knock sensor?
opinions?
