Drive train rattle to Buzz sound

Drive train rattle to Buzz sound
1996 Max, 105000 miles, 5 Speed with a Center Force Stage II Clutch (17 thousand miles on Clutch).
When starting off "slowly" in first gear I hear what sounds to me like a bearing noise which turns to a buzz like sound at higher RPMs and Gears.
The general opinion seems to be (3 mechanics have quessed at it) that I have the beginnings of a transmission bearing problem. Maybe worn shaft bearnings within the Trans.
Problem is they are not sure and want about $1000.00 to check-it-out.
The transmission shifts well, and the clutch functions well. So no shifting problems of any kind.
CV joints have been ruled-out as a problem. Wheel bearings are OK.
Just a noise as noted above.
Any ideals?
