Timing question(not coming from a newbie)

In the time I've been on maxima.org, I can't recall ever seeing this question.

Is it possible to advance or retard our timing for some extra power? I know the 200sx se-r guys can, but does our timing chain have anything to do with it? Just wondering since I don't know the answer.

It's controlled by the signals from the Cam Position sensors and the ECU. There are no adjustments. A modified ECU is the only thing that can change the timing mapping.

I remeber this question being asked a few times last year. Unfortunatelly we can't adjust our timing.

All you have to do is make a timing adjuster simular to the ones for late model ford mustangs. That would allow you to advance or retard the timing.

Are we talking cam timing or ignition timing?

Did you just say the max engine is similar to the 300zx engine? WTF is wrong with you. I really doubt we share a single thing in common with the VG. Only thing I can think of is the displacement and even there we have 20 or so more cc.

actually the VG and VQ are similar, as I've owned both (previous car was a 90 300ZX), but to advance/adjust the timing on a VG you losen the CAS, and rotate it slightly.

On some tt Z's they were able to get 20-30+ HP to the wheels with some simple timing adjusting, though on some cars it was as little as 3-4HP, seemed to vary quite a bit depending on the car.
