Headlight Bulbs Keep Burning Out....
Headlight Bulbs Keep Burning Out....
Six months ago, I purchased some cheap HID imitations off of Ebay for like $15. They worked great for a while. But after three months or so, the low beam burnt out in the drivers side bulb. Thinking it was just a defective bulb, I replaced it back with the old bulb. Another 3 months went by, and now it has done the same thing again. The low beam burnt out, but the high beam still works. Does anyone have any explanation of why the maxima doesn't like my low beams. Could it be a short in the wiring or something. I really don't know what to think anymore. Thanks.
was the second bulb u put in another imitation. the imitations dont last very long from what i hear. the reason why the low beam is goin out is because it gets a lot more use than the high beam.
This is y i gave up on ebay or aftermarket bulbs. They keep on getting burnt out. If you get a wattage of 60w or more, the harnesses on the maxima can't take the power. Try upgrading the harness or get hids.
I wish I couldn't drive so much at night. But in the event that I have to drive at night, which will and does happen. What kind does everyone recommend? I am tired of getting screwed by the ebay knock offs. Thanks.
I also use the cheap imitation bulbs, and i have replaced them twice in the past year. as soon as my current pair burn out, i'm switching back to regular white bulbs, as i've come to the conclusion that the fake blue light doesn't look cool, it looks cheap...
Remember that no bulb alone will be as crisp or as bright as true HID lighting. Buy bulbs depending on what you want them to do. I.E. beam pattern, color, luminance, looks....etc. I chose not to go with true HID lighting due to the comments given by other maxima.org members... First is that they're to bright for oncoming drivers and second is that are headlights aren't truly designed for them. (They still look awesome though) Last is price, obviously alot of people don't have the money to buy them. This leads us to HID imitation bulbs. "Get the great luxury car look without the price!" This will never happen, but you will get a different look depending on the bulb. Go to local stores and buy their bulbs, if you don't like how it looks or functions take em back. Go on ebay and risk the chance of you not liking the bulbs, but they do have some good ones, contrary to others beliefs. Come on the org. and ask for pics of installed bulbs and get our opinions. My OPINION
is to buy some Eurodezigns off of ebay. I've tried over a dozen different manufacturers and these are the ones that I liked the most. They'll run you about $20 on ebay. Nokya aren't bad either, but I would upgrade your harness for these. Even though they say 55w/65w they will still fubar your harness if you use high beam. You can also get those Nokya upgrade harness I was talking about in an earlier post for like $12 on ebay. Hope this helps.
