knock and O2 sensors
my cel light turned on the other day and these are the codes they pulled at autozone. After reading all those knock sensor threads its finally happened to me. I was wondering though if the knock sensor causes my o2 cel light to come on or if theyre not related at all and i have to replace both?

not if you have a 99 with swirl valves and other stuff in the way. i would pay you $85 if you could change my knock sensor in 15 mins

1. Soak the sensor in WD40 or other equivalent
2. Wait 15 minutes
3. Use a 12mm wrench to remove the existing sensor (the ratchet attachment sold at oxygensensors.com will not work with this sensor but will work on the other two sensors)
4. Trace the wiring to the undercarriage
5. Pull the wiring so the rubber sealing-dealy comes out
6. Detach the bad sensor
7. Screw in the new sensor into the cat (you may want to apply some anti-seize)
8. Attach the new sensor to the harness
9. Cram the wiring back into the hole and seal it up
10. Get a Coke; you're done.

If you have a 96, there might be a campaign so they dealer will fix a bunch of shiot for free. I had the same KS + Bank 1 o2 sensor code, dealer replaced all o2 sensors (for free) and the KS go bye bye along with the CEL. I dont see any better mileage though.

I had a '95 GLE that I changed the KS on. I did it in the parking lot at work on my 15 minute break. It didn't have swirl valves.
