Close call! The max saved me!

I was riding on the highway today in the fast lane passing a 18 wheeler. I saw a piece of metal rolling in the middle of the road. I dodge that one. At that time I looked at the truck and noticed it had a pretty big load on it. Maybe it was something that came off of the load. In fear of getting my baby damaged(flying rocks and things) I decided to drop into 4 and pass the truck. Before I could step on the clutch, another piece of metal flew up and hit my hood. Now I'm PI$$D!!! But before I could really get mad...I notice the back wheels on the truck wobbbbln like crazy!! Next thing you know they jumped off the axle and into the road. I dropped into 4th and hit the gas, dodged a tire and flew pass the truck as it fish tailed into my lane. Turns out the pieces metal rolling down the road were lug nuts. I pulled over and took a deep breath. I was truely blessed today. Still a little mad about the dent on my hood but I still have my life. The MAX handled like a champ!

That is pretty wild! I guess a hood dent ain't so bad...could have been a LOT worse! Good going with the hazard avoidance!

You know, you could have taken the plate of the truck and got reimbursement for the dent in your hood.

WOW,

good driving, and good to hear you avoided what could have been a very ugly outcome. Did you get to collect any infomation from driver, they should cover any repairs you need since the 18 wheeler was unstable.

Too many crazy things out there, too many times I've had to drop a gear and gun it, to avoid certain danger, you have good driving instincts.

Yeah , the hood isint much of a big deal concidering it could have been much worse. Did the truck stop? Or did the guy just keep driving?

Nows that chance to get a CF hood .

Um, you do relise you can drop down gears in an auto as well? Press the O/D off button and it'll drop the car down a gear if you're travelling at highway speeds

You can also floor the accelerator, that will also drop the gear to 3rd.

I can put it in second on the freeway if I felt so inclined. Got to love the ability to do 65-70 or whatever it is in second with the 7200 rpm rev limiter I would just never do it because it would kill me to put that on my car. I would do third though

Well, that sucks about the hood, but glad to hear you are okay.
Good thinking to get past that guy.
