On the back of the relay box it should identify which of the five leads are which. If I remember correctly, com is always attached in the relay with either the normally open or normally closed lead. In this case, I think com should be attached with the normally closed lead.

So, attach red from the buzzer to com. Then, black from the buzzer to ground....like some metal part of the car. Then, green/orange wire to normally open as well as the inner coil of the relay. Lastly, orange to the other end of the coil.

This is all off the top of my head so see if that works...if not I will take apart mine and take a pic for yas.

If you are doing the alarm "beep" mod from VQPower.com I don't think you need the relay, or at least I didn't.

I used the small PC piezo buzzer or whatever it was called and I even bought the relay, but instead of using the relay I soldered the red and black wires directly onto the orange and orange/black wires and threw the relay away(after I burnt a few prongs off of it).

I'm not sure which wire went where, but I assure you all you have to hook up is 2 wires! If you need me to take mine apart and look at it I will....

I'm not even sure if you're doing the same mod as me, but maybe this helps?!?

ok here is a pic of the whole setup...the red wire should be connected as shown in next pic. I broke the connection tryin to get a good pic. Oh yeah, I ghetto rigged this like crazy with the duct tape, would prolly look better with electrical tape.

Anyway, the duct taped mass at the top is where i taped the buzzer...i cut a small hole in the panel so that it would be a little louder.

all connections are soldered and insulated with the tape

This pic shows where to splice into the electrical harness...

The black wire from the buzzer is soldered and taped to the mounting bracket. Make sure all connections are very secure or else when you shut the trunk, the rig wont work anymore.

You'll probably be better off if you put the buzzer outside of the car, instead of in the trunk.

Behind the panel, where the instructions say to install the buzzer, is a small hole with a rubber insert leading to the license plate (i think). Anyway, I ran my two wires through here and hooked the buzzer up underneath the rear bumper. It is completely out of side and it is a lot louder than when it is in the trunk. Mine has been under the bumper for a few months now, through rain, mud, etc...and no problems yet!

Would you guys recommend me doing this? Why would you even have to solder the wires and is the sound authentic? I really wanna see how to do it under the bumper so acj if you could also take pics I would be happy....I will e-mail the guy from vpower and have him post ur guys pics there since they are more detailed if that is alright with you 2...thanks for all the help!

Sorry but my Aiptek digital camera sucks so the quality will be horrible. Although I may try it later tonight just to see if I can get a decent picture for ya.

An authentic sound? No. It is not an alarm chirp or "honk" that other cars make. It is what it is described as. An alarm "beep-beep". I do like it though. To me it is a different sound, and it stands out when you're locking your car. So I would say go for it. If you don't like it you didn't waste but a few dollars and it can be removed easily.

But, just lay underneath your rear bumper and you'll see what I am talking about. There is a rubber insert that leads into the trunk. I just cut a whole in it and shoved the wires through(from the inside). Then from underneath there is a metal support bracket on the back of the bumper. This is were I mounted the buzzer with a couple "zip" ties.

I'll go out to the garage and try to take a couple pics now...

the sound is just like my dad's stock 2001 camry alarm

i thought it would sound like a door bell buzzer or something at first, but it sounds just like a regular car alarm

ok so ajc you are telling me that I should first splice the green/orange wire that is where i will connect the red wire from the buzzer...then just attach the black wire to anything metal?? are the wires long enough by themselves to work with that under the bumper thing?

I took the pictures but they came out horrible, as always. I could probably draw a better picture in microsoft paint than my pos camera can take.

Did you decide to use the relay or do it without it? And bearded, do you know what the relay does exactly? Does yours still make a "beep-beep" sound or just a single beep?

All I did was tied the red wire (from the buzzer) onto the Green/Orange wire. Then I took the black wire and tied it to the solid orange wire. I think I spliced about a foot of wire on it so it would reach the bumper, but thats no problem. I do have a picture, really crappy quality but I would email it to you. (I don't really want to post a picture like this on the forum.)

Hope this helps.

it makes a beep-beep sound.

not exactly sure what the purpose of the relay is...i suppose i could just take it out if you say it will work without it

Email is sent to ya. Hope it is of some help, but I doubt it.

It does work without the relay. I think someone posted a while back about not using a relay also.

I originally bought the relay, but I couldn't get it hooked up right (after getting one of the prongs too hot and burning it off). So I just messed around with a few "hot" wires until I got something to work. I think the relay may be more useful if you were to use a bigger buzzer or something, something that will draw more power...but I don't know.
