Yellow fogs update (cracked my lenses)
Yellow fogs update (cracked my lenses)
Well, here we go again on the yellow fog tip. This sh|t is NEVER ENDING!!!
So I'm talking to my boy on the phone the other day and I look over at my car and see that BOTH fog lenses are cracked. Now, how the F is it that I go through the entire winter (with freezing temperatures, snow, etc.) and don't manage to crack a fog lens, but then when the weather gets warm and the temperature differential between puddles/rain/etc. and the hot fogs is lower, THEN I crack a lens...and BOTH freaking lenses to boot. I think I actually have a spare for one side, so of course both have to crack.
So, I'm done with 85W fogs. It's been a hell of a good run. The Narvas were great but the sketchy burnt wiring and now the two cracked lesnes ($160 new fog kit is on the way from Garrands) are too much. I can't deal with this crap anymore.
So I searched and found a reference to the Catz Rising Yellow 55W joints from Redline Extreme. So, we'll give THOSE a try now.
The good part about all this, though, is that I will definitely have two fogs to experiment on. I want to see if I can get the lenses off of them without destroying them completely. If I can, maybe the Lexus yellow capsule kit from hidtech will be a reality. How great would that be??? Max Noob also PMed me about the possibility of using film. I'm not so sure I want to do film on the outside of the lenses, but maybe if I can get them open the inside will be a possibility. I just worry about how it will look to have all yellow lenses.
The other thing that sucks is that I really used my fogs as driving lights. They were aimed mad high for better side visibility in the country. Since retrofitting HID's to the headlights is too damn expensive and hard, I'm thinking about those new HID driving lights from hella. I don't really like the way a second set of fogs looks on the car, but maybe if I could hide them far enough back under the bumper or something. I mean, in reality, using your fogs as driving lights really isn't the best solution anyway, so maybe this will work out better.
I'll keep you posted...and I'll try to remember to post pics of the Catz bulbs when I get them installed.

I've gone through a bunch of bulbs...so probably at least a year/year and a half if not more. I cracked another one in the past but I beleive that was with the Hella's. Cracking them is always a risk!
