Hey max2kgle526, did you go to speed world tonight? i happened to pass there tonight around 6:30 and saw some Max's..........if your ever there let me know i would like to meet you (and your one leg
) and check your car out....

The displacement of the engine is measured in liters. That signifies how big the engine is and how much air can enter the cylinders. Engines with larger displacement usually have longer strokes. Now if you remember your physics from high school, the longer the stroke, the more torque you get.
I think it's L x P = Torque or something like that..where L is the length of the stroke.
But that does not always mean an engine that has larger displacement will have more torque than an engine that has smaler displacement.
Other factors come into play, such as compression in the cylinders (which means the oxygen to fuel ratio).
The displacement of your Maxima's engine is approx. 3L.

its a jeep.. your point in racing it is what??
My Maxima is faster than a Contour, my Maxima is faster than a V6 Camaro, etc... Where is the stretch? People think that their 'pretty fast' car will beat everything else out on the road. Then you get stomped on my a Honda Odyssey and the dream is shattered. The Jeeps are fast, especially the 5.2L Grand Cherokee (0-60 in ~7.5 secs).
Hmm let's not talk about rotaries, they're more comparible to a jet engine. And for a 1.3 liter it sux the gas down.
Anyways yeah 1.0 liter is 1,000 Cubic Centimeters of displacement. Generally the more displacement the more torque because of the longer stroke.
Horespower is derived from torque. The general equation is:
(Torque * RPM)/5252
It's pretty accurate. I'd take the read from where the torque band is at max.

Wrangler
Dont let their appearance fool you. Right out of the hole they are quick b/c the low gearing but once you hit about 30 or so, it should be all MAxima... Also watch out b/c alot of rednecks like to mod these things. But even if modded, you will still obliterate them over about 60.
You got it...
Don't worry about the Jeep. I used to have a '97 Wrangler and I've never seen a Max get spanked by a Jeep. Of course I had 5.5" of lift, 33" tires and the heaviest steel rear bumber that I have ever seen.

the 5.9 liter one can beat an auto maxima and give the 5sp a run for his money. but the max should win if the person can drive. those things are really fast.

that does not really make sense though. wouldnt the 4wd one be able to get a better start off the line?
