95 GLE pinging all the time HELP
I have a 1995 GLE and my car suffers from what i believe to be engine ping. When i accelerate my engine makes a sound that sounds like a tin can full of BB's. Its not a knocking sound but a higher pitch sound. I have been using 93 octane in my car for the past 9 months and at first it didnt really ping, but now it pings all the time regardless of the temperature outside. When I put 87 octane its even worse...
so how do i get rid of this pinging? even if i use the highest octane gas it still pings... correct me if i am wrong but i have been reading that it is a timing issue. I have also read that it may be the O2 sensor or the knock sensor. Any one else had this problem and figured out a solution? Any help greatly appreciated

It's strange to have it ping all the time and not just when accelerating. Even with fully advanced timing running 93, it shouldn't ping under most cases. If it were the knock sensor's fault, it would only ping under hard acceleration.
The fact that it gets worse when running 87 does mean that it is "engine ping" and not a loose timing chain or other part. If you had an O2 fail, it would most likely set off your CEL. If you do have a CEL, read out the code. That should tell you the problem.
If none of the above works... Does it also feel like it misfires? Like the engine doesn't feel "smooth." If so, you might want to try some injector cleaner, possibly a cylinder or two is running lean from a clogged injector.
