Don't know **** about wheels.

Sorry guys,it seems like a noob question, but I know nothing about wheels.I'm buying my friends Exel H-50's off his Max for $800.I think they're 17s but not sure.Don't know the offset or anything. What do I need to do to put 'em on? Do I need to change camber settings, change speedometer or anything? Let me know and how much it usually costs to do all that.Thanks.

If the wheels are on his max then they'll fit with no problem. Provided his max wasn't a 88'

Search the web to find the specs on the wheels such as the offset.

If you look on the tires there is a series of numbers. Mine is 235/45ZR17 . The 17 is the diameter of wheel. So if it were to say 2xx/xxR18 Then you have 18's.

Price? Who knows. Type it into ebay and see what they're going for

Yeah but what about the speedometer. It takes bigger wheels more revolutions to spin around. So if your speedometer reads 75mph,wouldnt you really be going 65mph?

think about what you just said, bigger wheels take more revolutions to go the same distance???? I have 18's from the factory 15's and speedo difference is not noticable. maybe 1-2 mph difference

fun ways to find out:

1. get someone to drive beside you on the interstate, using cell phones or 2 way radios, adjust speeds and see what you got.

2. race a 1/4 track and watch your gauge when you pass through the traps, dont run off the track though.

3. spot a highway patrol up ahead on the interstate and stick it on 100 mph and pass by. then compare to his radar readings..

Special Note:
The 3rd method is usually used by drivers who have a speedo problem, and recently won the lottery.

Tort-But listen,if you take a small paper cup,tip it on its side and start at the seam, and measure the distance it takes to get back to the seam.then do the same with a large cup,it takes a lot longer of a distance...this isn't true? Just something I thought about,no clue if I'm right or not.

Hahah, aright Chariot. So it doesnt matter, all I need to do is switch 'em out?

it travels a greater distance because the circumference is larger, the center of the wheel will travel farther due to the outerrim covering a greater distance, though revolutions will be slower, itll cover more ground, that swhy if you think of a machine, smaller gears will drive a bigger gear to increase mechanical output.

All this HS geometry is great , but I'm pretty sure you're supposed to get tires with a lower profile causing the actual wheel-tire combined circumferance to be the same (or close at least). Keep in mind that I'm still on stock 15's and could be completely wrong, but this is what I've heard.

That is what your SUPPOSED to do, but thats not what he said, he said bigger wheels = more rotations which is just completely off.

However, if you go with bigger wheels and want to get tires that make the overall size a little bigger (for ride comfort), if they fit then I dont see what the problem is. Speedo will be affected slightly

IMO, you shouldn't purchase anything you cant afford. You should've waited and bought them new when you had the money.

...but then again im broke myself.
