Size of bolt to get off front rotors?

I'm replacing my front rotors this weekend. I read that when the rotors are stuck that you have to insert bolts in the holes to help push them off. Does any one know what size bolt I would need?
I haven't tried yet, just think with all the miles on my car that it might be frozen.
When you have to do the work down at a Municipal parking lot, you want to come prepared.

Thanks for any help.

if you have your new rotors, then they should also have the threaded holes in them, so just take them to the hardware store and see what fits

Just use the hammer theory.
Get a rubber mallet, and hit lightly.
They should come right off.

i believe the bolts(2 main ones) to remove the caliper bracket are 16mm or 18mm and the other two are either 12mm or 14mm. Hope you have a good breaker bar for the back two bolts cause mine barely came off when i had to remove the calipers to have my rotors cut.

I think he is talking about the bolts you can screw in to get the rotors off.
Probably important that he knows about the others too, since you have to take off the caliper and housing to get rotor off.

i have the bolt but i dont know what size it is. I recommend taking one of the new rotors to a garage shop and just letting them test fit. Tahts what i did. The rubber mallet theme works but the bolt procedure is so much easier. I took my rotors off in 20 seconds with the bolt procedure vs my back rotors which didnt have the hole for a bolt and had to use a mallet, took me nearly half an hour.

2 bolts for caliper, 2 bolts for caliper holder bracket, both between 14mm and 17 mm.

Thanks for all the help.

I'm going to stop a hardware store on my way home. The new rotor is in the trunk.

So the caliper holder has to come off also, thanks, I was just counting on removing the caliper.

At least I will have the haynes manuel by my side.

Drop the wife and kids over the inlaws in the morning. That way I wont have to hear are you done yet, I want to go ........ Then grab a cup of Joe and go to work. Just me and my Maxima, how sweet it is.

All done. The bolts that hold the pads are 14mm and the bracket bolts are 19mm.

Don't remember the size of the bolts to push off the rotor. Sorry. Just brought the rotor to the hardware store. Clerk found the bolts for me.
