means that your clutch doesnt have much life left to it, took only about 1000-1750 miles until you need a new clutch, depends on how you drive. i just replaced my clutch about 2 weeks ago, if i were you i would go ahead and start looking intoa new on

well thats the thing, my clutch is brand new. I have the ACT HDMM w/ Fidanza Flywheel. It doesn jerk or vibrate when I start out like i think chatter normally does, it starts jerking around 4k RPMs. After my brake in period i slowly too it up past 3k RPMs today and when i hit around 4k RPMs the car just started jerking and wouldnt accelarate fast at all.

Do i need to break the clutch in more or what?

ive gone about 300 VERY easy miles so far. slow shifts, never over 3000 RPMs. I wanted to just try taking it slowly to a little higher RPM, still no hard shifting though, then once i hit 4000 RPMsthe car stops accelerating even though my foot is on the gas and it shakes. thats all there is to it.

hmm........thats exactly how i broke my clutch in too, so the clutch should be broken in just fine. does this happen in every gear or just one certain gear?? did you install yourself or did a shop do it for you??

That's not clutch chatter. Clutch chatter is the shuddering vibration you get while the clutch is slipping as you start out from a full stop. At 4000 rpm the clutch is fully engaged, right?

Sounds like an ignition problem like maybe you damaged the crankshaft position sensor when you dropped the tranny.

i also have a CEL. it came on not long after the clutch install when I revved the car once. Dont know if the car shuttered like it does now before the CEL...but I cant pull codes as I have a 99 and i broke my little screw a long time ago.

Go to Autozone and have them scan for codes. They'll do it for free.

CHatter is something that you don't have on a BMW or Acura. j/k

I got my 98 brand-new, and it chattered from day 1 when downshifting from 4-3. I can assure you, since my car now has 91k+, that chatter does not go away. My clutch starting "whirring" in the mid 20's, that does not go away either. I made the mistake of believing the Nissan stealership when they told me it's normal, and will go away with usage.
