new stereo
new stereo
hey guys,
My stock GLE Bose stereo is busted. I know that the Bose setup in the car is 1 ohm. I went to a local stereo shop and the guy told me that I can replace it with a 4 ohm head unit and I would have to install some kind of converter that would cost me $50 so that I can use the 4 ohm head unit with the 1 ohm speakers. He mentioned that this setup might work for as long as I have my car, or it can destroy the amps sometime in the future and I would have to replace the speakers. I'm wondering if I should risk it with the converter since I don't have the $ to replace the stereo and all my speakers right now.
Has anyon else installed a 4 ohm stereo with the 1 ohm Bose speakers? If yes, have you had problems with this setup?
your input is appreciated.
