Bose Stereo System - CD player died
Hey folks,
I have a 95 GLE with the Bose system (which rocks!) - my cd player just cheesed on me. When I stick in a disc, it trys to run it for about 5 seconds, then pops the cd back out and says "ERR". Meaning ERROR, of course.
Anyone else had this issue? Is my stereo hosed? I concerned about the cost of fixing it. I had a friend mention an idea of picking up a whole new (well, used) BOSE system from a junkyard.
Thoughts? Ideas? Would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Sean

i don't know about the bose all that much but maybe it's dirty and needs to be cleaned? i know there are cleaners for cd players so maybe try that, or call an audio place and ask them what they think/recomend to do. goodluck

Same thing happened to me. After opening the cd player and plugging in the power, the cd wasn't spinning. What you can try doing is after sticking in the cd, use a hard long piece of paper into the cd opening and "feel" for the cd. If you don't hear that the cd is spinning against the paper, then it's not spinning. Then try to give the cd a push to get it spinning. Let me know if that helps.

Try this link www.carstereohelp.com
I had the same problem. It cost about $200 to get it fixed includingg shipping. This is a regat website that tells you how to get your stereo out and what they will do. Great company, I highly recommend

I logged on because I was having problems with my Maxima's cd player as well. What do you know, someone else has my same problem on the first page. I used the method that SupaMaxima suggested and the CD was not spinning. I used a small piece of cardboard aimed it downward toward the CD and moved it from right to left. I had to do it a couple of times but it got the CD to register eventually and it started playing. The sound was really choppy at first like the CD was really scratched. But I held down the FF button until it went into quick FF then I let it play a little bit and then held down RW unitl it went into quick RW. Did that a couple of times and it has never sounded better. I've gone out a couple of times and started my car just to make sure the CD player would work, works like a charm.
Thanks for the tip Supa.

I've had an intermiitent display for months. I tried 4 times to find the problem so I got pretty good at taking the Bose apart.
I went to the madchef site and what he shows is the problem sure enough was right! I just ahd to resolder the resistor he shows and now my display works great! In fact, I've resoldered just about everything and my low end is now better than before. Go figure. Thanks for posting that site Kevlo!

I haven't posted anything about a "CD Err" fix because I don't know exactly which resistor it is.
But, I can almost guarantee that if you resolder all resistors, then you will fix the problem.
Shouldn't take too long...and it worked for me
Good luck!
