low rpms in neutral

just recently, 1996 max manual tranny started to idle at really low rpms. this worries me because at times, it seems as though the car is going to die on me. they sometimes drop to as little as 400 and usually stay around 500 rpm, it seems way too low to me.
any suggestions??????

you can adjust your idle, I can't remember how, look in faq's or something.

Clean your throttle body. Also check for vacuum leaks.
Adjusting your idle is a bad idea. It didn't adjust itself lower.... either your intake is carbon and oil fouled or you have some other minor issue.

read the faq's, it covers all maintenance issues, you hav eto remove the entire intake box and clean it with a toothbrush and some intake cleaner, also clean your IAC valve, and try some seafoam for the carbon deposits, again...read the faqs, doubt the oil would cause low idle

that is not that bad. Maybe a little low, but manuals are supposed to idle at like 600-650 rpm.
