Summertime AC recharge??

I apologize if this has been addressed. I was having problems getting to Faq's and the Fluids section.

Are there any products/kits available to effectively recharge your AC? I was in Advance auto over the weekend and saw a bunch of stuff but was not sure if it really works. It would be real nice to have a freshly charged automatic climate control.

Any advice, info, or pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

MM

Go to Meijer or Walmart they have R134 recharge kits for cheap. If your system just needs a boost you can get away with doing it yourself.

there was a thread on here a couple of days ago. Just look in like the first 6 or 7 pages and I bet you could find it. It had quite a few good replies on it about recharging the AC.
Good luck.
I know you need that AC when it gets how.

Man, we are spoiled. ha ha

recharging system is rediculously easy... u will need to buy a car of r134 freon and the install tool which u can prob buy as a kit at walmart. The tool screw onto the can of freon and then gets connected to the low pressure side of the a/c system located near the strut mount on the passebger side on the a/c line. It will have a cap u unscrew (similair to tire valve cap). after u have them both connected, turn a/c on HIGH, and then open can. The tool will have like something u spin on the freon side that screw in to open can and then unscrew to realese freon into car. Next shake bottle till empty... it will feel lighter. When can is empty release tool from low presure side and cap the valve. The tool/can will release a lil of freon thats still in can for just a second or two. If your system is working properly the air in car should be dramatically cooler, if u have a thermometor the reading should be taken from midle vents and should be in the 40's.

I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITIES IN THIS ADVICE... This will only work if your system is low but working, you should first check that you a/c components are working. EG compressor engauges, blower works, and condesor does not leak. For saftey reasons the proper way of doing this is to completelly evacuate system and refill to prevent over/under fill of freon. If u dont feel capable of doing this then dont, local places charge @ $60-75 to do this. If this works and then days/weeks later your system blows warm air again, yoou have a leak and then you will need to track that down. If you have a leak detection kit u can try that, worked for me to find hole in condesor... or for most people time to bend over and prepared to get raped to fix this.

Pinholes can be stopped with leak stop now.

You can buy r134a compliant leak stop anywhere. It's not a bad idea to recharge your system with some leak stop and freon at the same time.
