Maxima stalls when starts early in am

When my brother starts his car in the am, he has to rev the engine up almost consistently for about a minute or so, in order to keep the car from stalling. does anyone know what this might be, or why this might be happening, what to replace/repair to resolve problem.

regards,
Brian

I also had this same problem just last week. I relocated the MAF a while ago for the turbo kit. I found out that the new connections I made to move the MAF farther away were loose. Once they were re-done, everything worked perfect.

I had the following symptoms:
1) Car would start and rev to 500 RPMs, but immediately cut off.
2) To get the engine started/going, I had to hold the gas pedal down and start the engine at the same time. I then had to ride the clutch to make sure the car would not die on me.
3) When sitting at an intersection, the car would just randomly die on me....

check the connection to the MAF before just replacing it, could just be corroded contacts. Also, I've heard of coolant temperature sensors causing similar symptoms, so you might want to replace that if it is still the original one.

Can it be the fuel filter that's all clog up? Changed mine a month ago and never had the problem.

btw my old fuel filter was dirty!
