biting the bullet....

My clutch has been on its way out for about a month now, and its just getting worse and worse( note to self: never let anyone drive my car again other than ME)..... but I decided that im going to get a lightweight flywheel, new clutch, and a go ahead and get a UDP and put it on while I have the engine semi out.... My question for you guys is what clutch do you think I should get?? I was looking at a stage three 6 puck... the only mods I'll have will be ypipe, cat, bpipe, catback, the udp, intake... and thats it for now..... but would an exedy clutch, or something along the lines hold up for that?? Or should I sacrifice smoothness and daily drivability a little bit to get the extra performance, and power handling with the 6 puck, or something like that.... any and all comments welcome... thanks!

Stage 3 will be very rough all the time. From what I've read and heard, Stage 2 is the limit for a daily driver.

Don't bother with the 4/6 puck clutches. I have the street disk and it's more than enough grip. A lot of people are switching back to an OEM clutch because they consider the ACT overkill.

I heard Exedy makes a clutch between the ACT street disk and OEM; I might try that one out next time around.

I have heard the same thing from quite a few people. They are saying that they are tearing through the pressure plate very fast and that their ACT clutch is not lasting more than 10-15k miles. That is not good.

Talk to Dave B about it. He recommends the OEM clutch because it has enough grab, but not too much. What he has found is that you will start tearing up your transmission if you don't tear up your clutch with an ACT because it is so aggressive.

Yeah, excedy does make a clutch between stock and the ACT stage one, reportedly grabbing 10% better than stock (compared to ACT's 30%). I just purchased this myself, and it will be installed this weekend. It is clutch kit 46044 I believe (but check me on it), and I picked it up for $140 shipped from Justin through the current GD, or there are a few other online retailers that carry it too.
