3rd gen Transmission Controller in a 4th gen

This was mentioned in another recent thread, but I didn't want to take the existing thread too far off-topic.

In my 3rd gen (auto), I had a switch to decide how the trannny performed, "comfort or performance". In performance mode it was much more sporty and shifted a lot higher in the powerband, as well as downshifting quicker. Kevlo911 mentioned that the 3rd gens had the same transmission as the 4th gen, so would a direct controller swap be possible? It would be really nice to have the different performance settings available. I know Jim Wolf has a 4th gen transmission controller available (here), but is would be more cost effective to salvage a 3rd gern controller from a wrecking yard.

Any information is appreciated.

Find a thrid gen and take out the tranny comp, it should behind hte AC/RADIO towards the carpet(Same place as 4th gen). See if the harness is hte same and plug it into your car.

Ya, you're right. I guess if I really want to see if it'll work, I shoud go find out for myself. I'll let you know of the outcome.
