Has anybody ever installed (or have installed) an aftermarket sunroof. I'm interested in doing this, but am curious about quality, leaks, different brands etc...

 

I have been in a Max that had a sunroof put in. I was pretty clean, couldn't hardly tell that it was put in or done by the factory. The only thing that was wrong with it was the darn thing leaks sometimes. We figured it out that it was the "weather-stripping" material was coming loose. All is good. But to me, the 700 sunroof plus the extra 100-200 to install it just isn't worth it. Rather save up and get a y-pipe, exhaust, etc. Just my .02 cents.

for about $1K. It has been excellent - one-touch operation, auto-close when you turn the car off (this is switchable), and no leaks or rattles. I'm very happy with it. I had it done in Albany NY. If you live nearby, I'd be happy to demo it to you.

I had an ASC in my '91 G20, and it was really nice. No leaks or rattles or anything like that. It had some nice features too, like one-touch operation and a setting that would close it when you took the key out. It looked factory. I don't know how much it was because it was in the car when I bought it, but I would recommend ASC if you absolutely must have a sunroof.
