Rear o2 : Maybe I should just put a bolt back there ;p
Rear o2 : Maybe I should just put a bolt back there ;p
My car started bucking and the rpm's moved all over the place. Then my check engine light came on. The car after 15 - 20 seconds went back to normal. Check code says rear o2. Holy crap is it right. My rear o2 sensor looks like a piece of charcoal. Only problem is I can't find a replacement. A friend of mine works at autozone, so we figured just look the part up. See if its the same thing and order it from whoever has it the cheapest. We tried 95 nissan maxima after cat and come up with two parts it could be. Neither part fits (the actual sensor is much bigger and the threads to screw it in are wider besides.) Cross referencing the nissan part number returns nothing in the autozone computers. We called carquest, and oreilys, nothing in their computers but the same part that doesnt fit.
I read http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=289189&page=4
and thought 'awesome, these guys definately have the right part because everyone here has pretty much the same car!' o2 sensors it has listed are the same size as the ones I took out of the box at autozone.
Soooo..... my question is ... WTF?
Can I just wire it some way to always read ok for the rear o2 and just plug up the hole? I tried looking for dummy o2 sensors for my car but havent found anything.
Sorry for the long post but just wanted to fill you guys in on what point im at now.

Ok, heres what I did. Replace your rear 02 Sensor with a simulator off of ebay, and then go to Autozone, and buy a PCV valve for a 90-96 Nissan 300ZX. It has perfect threading to plug the whole in the exhaust. Also while you are at autozone, pick up an exhaust repair kit, the kind that comes with the high-temp exhaust sealer stuff, to seal the PCV valve up. PCV valve is ~$7, and the sealer kit should be $2.99. End result, works like a charm, and you will never have to **** with it again!
