Pretty sure the 4th gen Maxes have plastic headlights, so even though I've got an I30, this might benefit some of you all too. (I posted this in the I30 forum)

I did not remove the headlights for this, I simply was careful not to hit the paint with any sandpaper.

Anyway, I used 600, then 1000, then 1500 wet sanding. I then polished it with 3M polishing compound and finished it up with a coat of Meguiars Paste wax. All parts were purchased at Autozone and the project took about an hour total.

This first picture shows fine sanding (1500) on the first light I did, the passenger side. You can see a nice difference already between the sanded and unsanded light.

This is the before and after picture. I think it really makes a difference on the front end of my car. Nice, cheap, easy, effective "mod" =)

How long did you have to sand with the 600 before you stepped up to the 1000 then 1500?

 

Nice. I also found that using Easy-Off oven cleaner works instantly in pulling the yellow out. You just have to make sure you don't get any on the paint as it will eat it.

I really want to try this...but I am afraid that the sand paper will leave a haze/scratches on the lens. I was thinking of wetsanding, then buffing. Currently I use meguiars clear plastic polish.

Someone posted about a product in the I30 forum a few days ago. It was for a product at http://www.mdwholesale.com and he seemed to really like it. He posted pics of the before and after and it seemed to work good.

I was thinking about trying it on my fogs...

I just used some rubbing compound I had left over and it seemed to work pretty good for me.
