need shocks - where to get?

My mom's 95 GLE with 60,000 needs new suspension. I'm going to give her my extra set of maxspeed springs . Thought they might be to hard on OEM shocks/struts - should I buy the OEM SE shocks/struts for her or go aftermarket. If so where to buy cheap?

Go aftermarket. Are you sure she's going to be okay with the rougher ride? My mother would kill me if I did that without telling her. Shox.com has cheap shocks but you can get GR2 shocks for $230 through a GD.

THT is right...you better get mom's permission first. The stock shocks are probably the most comfortable suspension for the maxima.

Got my KYB AGX from ebay for $375. But if you go with aftermarket get Tokico Illuminas in front and AGx in back.

Look around here on the .org before you buy any struts. There is a group deal for the Tokico Illuminas also for $425 shipped. The AGX and GR2's are also in group deals right now.

Also, you can look around for some Adjustable struts that are slightly used in the classifieds. That is what I did, and I ended up with some Tokico Illuminas that have only 800 miles on them for $320 shipped. Not bad at all!

Good luck in whatever you decide.

Tokico Illuminas from SWA. Very comfortable ride, just like stock yet firmer.

I have AGX/Maxspeed setup - I think they are pretty comfortable - she's on stock ride tires (now that you mention it I'll let her ride in my car to be sure)

Are GR-2s stiffer (if not, I'll get them since they're alot cheaper).

Someone implying Illuminas are softest - true? cost?

Thanks for all the help

Apparently the tokico illuminas are the closest to the stock struts. The GR2's are about 15% stiffer than stock GXE/GLE struts.

Yeah, you should make sure your mom likes the lowered ride feel before swapping out the springs and struts.

I think the GR-2 with the stock springs could be the right choice for your mom. My mom takes my car sometimes to go to work, and besides the exhaust that she hates, she really dislikes the firm ride. I also have 25/45/17 tires on, so they make it bit harsher, but I wouldn't go for aftermarket springs considering it's for your mom.

Only thing about GD is you probably wont get them as soon as you expect.
I ordered my lowering springs and illuminas on the 3rd of May, and they were supposed to ship to me the next day. Now they are on backorder till JUNE 18th!!!

I'll either get AGX and set on softest setting ($400?)

or stock SE shock/strut ($?) - anyone know where to get best price on OEM? (can't find at Courtesy site)

www.jerryromenissan.com

Go to their Parts section. Fronts are $76.50 & Rears are $64 each.

I think there is an extra 12% discount for org members too with the right code.

Check in the forsale forum for one of JRNissan's threads.
