Cracking Foglights

Does anyone have a problem with their foglight lenses cracking?

I just replaced these when someone pulled out in front of me back in Dec. and they are already cracking and clouding up.
What can I do to stop this from happening??????

Are the foglights on US Max made of plastic or glass? On my Euro Max I've had one lens crack (made of glass). That was due to me using 100w bulbs combined with a rainshower... But with normal 55w bulbs I've never had that problem...

They are glass. I thought about using higher wattage but I figured that the complications would not be worth it. I found bulbs the same color as my headlights, but they are only 55 watts!!!

Could still be the heat... it's pretty warm in SC!!! Spent 9 months in Conway/Myrtle Beach area...
Don't you get new ones form the dealer? At least here in Norway aftermarket parts have 1 year warranty...

Yup, same problem here with my passenger side one except the rock or whatever that hit it put a hole in it as well as several cracks. They are made of thick glass but being so close to the ground they get hit with a lot of debris. They cost a little over $100 dollars apiece so I'm just gonna let it go...unless someone has a good one they want to get rid of for cheap .

before i got my car mine was cracked on the passengers side. bought a new one but ended up cracking it a little also. my suggestion is to drive slower because from my personal experiences if i drive fast(er) i tend to scrape/hit a lot of things in my car.

I used to consider myself fortunate to have a 99 with no cracked lenses on the fogs. Well, a couple of weeks ago, I took a nasty rock to one of them, and it just split kind of like the picture above.
I don't know if it is bad enough that it will keep blowing through bulbs yet, but we will just have to see.
I don't think there is anything to do about it. I mean, everyone has that problem. Whether it is getting them to cool down too fast after they are hot or just a rock hitting them hard, they all break. I really wish there was a plastic alternative to these OEM lenses. That would solve a lot of the problems.
I don't know why they made the headlights plastic and rock resistent and not the fogs.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like a lot (all??) of cars in North America has plastic headlights while their sieblings in Europe have headlights made of real glass... is it required by DOT maybe??
Spoke with my local Nissan dealer today and asked them if they replaced/sold a lot of foglights, and they said hardly ever... The Euro Max has the lights positioned more towards the center of the car like on these pics. http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....67#post2972867 Probably they are safer in that position...

I was just saying that if Nissan can make some headlights out of rock-resistent plastic(and people don't have problems with them), they ought to make some fogs out of the same type of stuff. It would make a lot more sense since they are down there nearer to the ground getting bashed all the time with debris.
