New Maxima w/ few problems PLZ Read

Hello guys i just bought another maxima for a very low price, but it has quite a few problems like:

1) when i try to shift fast to second gear it goes gggrrrrttttt as if i was forcing it to go in. all the other gears are fine.

2)My second problems is that i need new engine mounts and i was wondering if you guys knew a good place or site where i could buy this at a better price, and if it's something a mechanic should do.

I got a 5sp 1996 GXE(ithink)
with 160k miles

thank you very much for reading and for your replys

from experience, few things that can cause hard shifting:

air in clutch lines

bad TO bearing

unproperly adjusted pedal

bad cylinders

since its an oldie wit not much done to it, i doubt its a pedal adjusting situation. I would check to make sure cylinders work since its an old car and also hold down the clutch pedal...if u hear a hiss or a bigger hiss than before your TO bearing may be damaged (costly to fix if u dont do it yourself). If clutch pedal feeels harder as well, u could have air in clutch lines...

Also the possibility of a bad 1-2 synchro if you've ruled out adequate MT fluid and the rest.

You need to make sure you break your clutch in before you get on it really hard if they just put it in!

Also, it might be your syncros for the second gear that are weak. This would accound for the grinding in only second gear only when you shift fast.
Sometimes, you can actually shift faster than the tranny likes for you to shift.

My brother has a 2000 VW Golf 1.8t and all his syncros are weak for some reason. I drove his car the other day and if you shift fast in his car, you can hear that little grind in every gear. You just have to shift a little slower.

Does it still go into 2nd gear even though it grinds?
