Clutch Question

My clutch is slipping, esp. in 3rd, 4th, and 5th gears.

Are there any places on the internet where I can get stock Nissan Maxima clutches, preferrably a genuine Nissan dealer? Please let me know if there are any. In addition, how much will a new clutch kit and installation cost?

Another question that I have is that I want to know what month my maxima was made. How do i find out?

Thanks

http://www.nissandealer.com/jerry-rome/part_catalog.cgi, use "maxima" promo code. There's also courtesy nissan but I'm not sure of the site. Make sure you don't get a key value clutch (it's the cheap crappy clutch the dealer might sell you instead of OEM). The key value comes as a kit while the true OEM one comes as its seperate components, so you want the one that has multiple part numbers.

One more thing, Terran you said the ture OEM comes in separate components. What components will I need if I am replacing my clutch and pressure plate and all the other stuff down there.

Thinner clutch disk, less clamping pressure plate........check the exedy stock replacements on ebay. They go for like 120 for a kit and claim 10% stronger clamping force. My buddy got one and loves it, with no problems whatsoever

you are looking at around 700 for all parts= labor.

I paid 380 for stage 2, 80 for stock flywheel, and 300 labor.

My stock clutch right now is very stiff. LIke my left calf is much bigger than my right. Which will be softer the exedy or the OEM?

Also, whats the main difference between the Exedy and the OEM? How is 130 for a Exedy clutch kit?

I saw one on ebay for $110 just right now. Plus, if you look on the driver side door would have the month and year your maxima was put together.

I got my Exedy from Ebay (seller: iclutches). It feels and acts like the OEM clutch. The OEM clutch pedal should be pretty soft. It is about 50% lighter than in my WRX. I am not disappointed in the Exedy at all.

I just had an exedy put in, paid $140 off of a website for it. Paid $414.xx for labor. Overall, I'm pretty happy with it, though the clutch pedal itself is lighter than stock (or at least it appears to be). Grabs really nice. So yeah, I'm happy with it, but I kinda wish I would have paid the extra cash to go with an Exedy stage 1 (~$300), to get a stiffer pedal, and a little better feel. Remember, you want your clutch to last awhile, so cheap isn't always the best (in fact it rarely is!)

Okay, so before i buy, which one should i get:
the Exedy $135
or the Stock Nissan Clutch from the dealerm $186
(i know the exedy is cheaper but also consider performace and durability when recommending a clutch)
I mean, if the nissan stock clutch will be better, i don't mind paying more. In addition, I don't really race or anything....if that makes a difference in the clutch.

One more thing, explain this stage one, stage 2......clutch crap to me? The exedy that i am gettin, it that just a stock replacement?

you should get the exedy for 130(including shipping).
thats what i got and i love it, and the main difference between OEM is that instead of having 6 springs, it has 4, the clutch pedal becomes so much lighter.
and if you know how to turn a wrench and have some free time, do what i did and do it yourself, that way labor is free. if you want to pictures of what you have to do to install just look at my cardomain page.
