He said stock auto didn't he? What do you think stock autos run, especially the 99. They are low 16 high 15 second cars stock.

that was directed at Slag, sorry I made it sound like I was directing it at everyone else. But to pull a GTP that is impressive. Good job man, but like I said, don't quote me on this but I think that the GTP'S hit 13's. Either way a 5 speed maxima not running 15's would shock me. That person would have to have something seriously wrong with their car. Your car should do fine.

No gtp has ever or will ever hit 13s stock man. You're mistaken. The fastest ever according to clubGTP, the GTP website, is a guy here in michigan who ran a 14.1 on a super freakish run, with weight reduction, in like 35 degree (good for forced induction cars) weather. The average of the "fast" stock GTPs is like 14.5ish.

Depends on if you know how to drive. Your car is capable of 15 flat give or take. But I have seen plenty of fast cars go really slow thanks to driver.

My old civic EX (SOHC - 127hp) ran 16.2 consistantly.

Most of the SI's (DOHC - 160hp) played catch-up with me all night long because they couldn't get off the line.

It's going nowhere. If Slag would venture over to the 1/4 and 1/8 mile forum, he would see the times Maximas are running.

Slag go HERE and check out the the N/A Maxima running 13s.

Will do.

And for the record, Stock gtps are NOT 13 second cars. There may be one or two out there that had exceptional runs with slicks on in perfect conditions and had iced the superchargers, but by far, NOT 13 second cars at all.

But you were just saying that they ARE 13 second cars NA.

anyways, to the original poster of this thread, dont talk up that the Maxima will hit low 15s too much.

Yes it is VERY capable of low 15s/high 14s, but if this is your first time at the track, youll quickly learn it is harder than it looks.

My first time I was all pumped to be hitting low 15s/high 14s in my 99 5-speed w/y-pipe/intake, but I hit a 15.9 for the first run. Lowest I could get it that day was a 15.6.

Every car lags in too low of rpm's. That is why you don't shift out until you get up into the higher rpm's. This will make the next gear in already higher rpms.

Before i had gotten the Max, i had a 95 VR6 passat. I went to a show in Jersey and just for fun i ran mine. All it had was an intake and a custom remus exhaust. It was the first time i raced on a track but it did hit 15.3. The car has 176 or so hp stock. the max had 190 stock and it pulls harder then the VR. so i think that the max can hit great numbers stock. (talking about the 5-speed's)

slag, all i got is a conefilter, full interior, i run 15.3 proven here...

so his 98 se 5sp with CAI, y pipe, muffler and a short throw shifter and a gutted trunk and possibly seats, should definitely be very capable of 14's. maybe you should stick to the 5th gen forums....

YOu might have a bad coil pack or something.
Also, it might help you to use some premium fuel and change your fuel filter.

before my last Max was stolen, i had a similar problem and all it was, was a messed up clutch. i replaced it and once it broke in, the car pulled better then ever. if you have a 5-speed that may be the problem. Try driving at like 30 or so mph and put it in 5th. pin the gas and if it slips then you may need a clutch.

One thing you must take into account is that Victorville is at nearly 3000 feet elevation and the weather is warming up which will decrease air density even further. If you run the quarter up there in warm weather, expect to add several if not many tenths to your 1/4 mile time...

Funny thread. Slag is a moron. Thats a given. Not dissing on Masaccio at all but I witnessed him pull a 15.6 on his second run ever after driving 5Spd for less than 1K and bone stock. Once my swap is complete I hope for mid 14's with practice.

Well, broaner, we have seen that with some good driving and a 5spd, people can get 14.788 on stock 4th gen. I think you have some preatty reachable goals.
