Wiring advice

I have decided to install a 12V power supply (cigarette lighter plug) in the arm rest compartment. I am going to splice the wiring into the existing wiring for the cig lighter in the dash. I have already installed the receptacle for the cig lighter in the arm rest but havent run the wiring yet.

Here are my questions...

1. Do i need to have a fuse inline if i splice into the other cig lighter cord? I didnt think it would be necessary but wanted to make sure.

2. Will there be enough power to run two cig lighter plugs off the one original wire??? (I think there will be since i previously just had a splitter plugged into the cig lighter to charge up my phone and run the rd.

Thanks for your advise. I hope you guys dont think this was a bad idea, So many other cars already have one in the arm rest compartment for accessories, i really think its convenient and it wasnt hard to do, so far ive spent a total of about 25 minutes doing this (including trips to the store)

Thanks,
