Knock sensor location on a 99 SE

Knock sensor location on a 99 SE

ummm....I am gettin that silent code of 0304 and for some reason I can't seem to locate my knock sensor....I have looked in haynes and on .org forums and the pics shown are not where mine is....whats the deal? Is this in a diff location for a 99?

It's under the upper intake manifold. Have fun...

well it isnt....the egr selenoid and stuff are right were it should be in the pic. Someone with a 99 se take a pic of ur engine bay where u see it....my i have some freaky supermax but mine isnt there...

cali spec???

I had the same problem, my car is cali spec, it has this huge swish valve actuator in the way, and that is why I cant see my knock sensor. If you look in front of the intake manifodl you will see two small screws that are grounding the knock sensor (which you cant see) follow these to the right (towards driver side) and then u will see a wire with a connector that has two wires going into it, i think one is brown and one is white on my car. anyway this is the hook up to the knock sensor. if there is a huge round thing off to the left this is the swish valve and its in the way. look at my pic it is circled... my advice... bring it to nissan, if u have the knock they shouldnt charge you more that 150 to install, my local dealer said $130.

yup...i have that swish valve in the way too =(
Damn nissan.....O well I suppose $130 isnt too bad. Anyone else know how to do it on a 99 max...like remove that swish valve??
