hi, i;ve been reading alot of posts about how to install an amp in a 4th gen. is there a web tutorial on it anywhere?

i also specifically need to know if i can install it to a stock headunit, because someone told me i might have to get an aftermarket one.

its easy to install. Just connect the wires.

As far as connecting to your stock headunit, the amp must have support for hi-level inputs. If your amplifier does not have high-level inputs, you cannot use it with a stock headunit unless u get an aftermarket part which will turn the hi-level output form the streo to low-level that you feed into the amplifier. Or you can simply get an amp that has built-in hi-level inputs...

Ofcourse if your radio has low-level outputs (RCA outputs), skip the above and just connect the wires.

it is easier and worth it to get a new headunit unless you have the bose. i would just do it anyways. i did have the bose and switched the head unit out for aftermarket to run a system. it is much easier.

I had an extra pair of rca cables and cut one end and tapped into one channel to get a signal (tapping into both side would cancel the signal out because of the differiential signal). Then just plugged it into the amp input. I did this to avoid alternator interference.

I have to live with this for now until I get a new head unit

aight, this is quite simple actually. I am assuming you know how to hook up your amp, if not ask and i can tell. i did mine myself and it works great. now i also kept my stock h/u and wired the amp in the rear speakers. First, go to best buy or circuit city and purchase an RF adapter [mines a IEC AULOC]. what you do is take the rf adapter and splice the wires extending off the rf adapter into you rear deck speakers [u will need some extra wiring to extend the short wires that comes with the adapter]. after you splice those into your rear speakers, run rf cables from the adapter into you red and white inputs on you amp. The adaptor is also cool cause you can adjust your frequencies on it, allowing for harder hits from your sub. AIM: K2 4FT3R5H0CK if you have any ?'ss

differential signal? what are you talking about? if you tap into the speaker leads and get the polarity wrong you're going to be out of phase. if you do it properly you won't have any problems at all.
